The 4 Cs refer to the key factors used to evaluate and determine the quality of a diamond. Together, these 4 Cs help assess a diamond’s overall quality and value.
The cut refers to a diamond’s shape and faceting, influencing its brilliance and sparkle. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully, while a poor cut can appear dull. Cuts are graded from Excellent to Poor.
Clarity refers to internal or external imperfections, known as inclusions and blemishes. Fewer imperfections result in a higher clarity grade, with Flawless being the highest and Included the lowest.
This measures the size of the diamond. One carat is equivalent to 200 milligrams. Larger diamonds are generally rarer and more expensive, but carat weight alone doesn’t determine a diamond’s value.
Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The more colorless the diamond, the more valuable it is, as it allows more light to pass through, enhancing its brilliance.
